Authority Administrator Resigns

​The Bedford County Public Service Authority (“BCPSA”) announced yesterday that their Administrator, William E. Jones (“Willie”), has resigned his position effective December 14, 2007. Willie was offered and has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Halifax County Service Authority (“HCSA”). He will assume his new role on January 2, 2008.

Mr. Jones started with the BCPSA on August 7, 1989 with a staff of four and a customer base of approximately 1,800. Since that time he has worked diligently to broaden BCPSA’s customer base, increase its water production capacity and bring modern technology to its water and waste water treatment facilities. Today the BCPSA boasts 7,700 water and sewer customers and has a staff of 37 employees, which include functions such as Customer Service, Engineering, Finance, IT, Maintenance and Operations.

Tom Segroves, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the BCPSA, has stated, “We are saddened by the departure of Mr. Jones after working closely with him for the last 18 years, however, we all wish him well in his exciting venture as Executive Director of the newly formed Halifax County Service Authority”.

The BCPSA has also announced that they are pleased to have Brian M. Key, PE assume the role of Interim Administrator while a search committee seeks to find an applicant to permanently fill Mr. Jones position. Mr. Key has been employed by the BCPSA since February 2000, most recently serving as the Director of Design and Facility Services Division, which oversees the Engineering, Maintenance and Operations Departments.
